Since Covid and lockdown, many of us have experienced changes in how we work and how much time we spend at home. Pet ownership increased significantly during 2019-2022, and the behaviour of these “lockdown puppies” has undoubtedly been impacted consequentially. During lockdown, one of our RVNs produced the below video, which is still relevant and should be considered for socialisation and desensitisation purposes when training a puppy.

Designed for puppies up to the age of 16 weeks old, once first vaccinations have been completed. Our Puppy Parties give your puppy the opportunity to meet and play with other puppies and their owners and become more accustomed to visiting our surgery. It also helps puppy parents to learn more about very important things like parasites, insurance and health checks. To book your puppy onto our next party please call any of our surgeries.

Here’s some advice for those of you with puppies during lockdown. Your training plan and vaccination course may have been impacted by the current situation which ultimately could affect their whole lives so have a watch and consider how you can best keep them happy, healthy and entertained. Getting creative with introducing stimuli to your puppy can provide some much-needed fun for us humans too!
